This
is a unique four wheel drive weekend tag along tour option which
incorporates Widgee Wilderness Mountain. A privately owned property
that guarantees spectacular views and great 4wd'ing. Not one tour
is the same as the last and has so much variety.
Close
to Brisbane
a
weekend adventure with plenty of 4WD action.
The wilderness section of this tour encompasses the high mountain
ridges just inland from Gympie as well as Widgee Mountain itself,
the highest peak in the district.
Views from the many vantage points on the property are simply spectacular
& if we are lucky, we can set aside some time and witness the
spectacle of hang gliders taking of from the launch pad on the mountain
catching the up-drafts.
In
the warmer months a swim in an idyllic mountain pool is a welcome
diversion. It may even be possible to shower under an adjacent waterfall
if summer rains have been kind.
This
tour is particularly suited to families. At times we get u close
to observe wild deer & other animals. The mountains are also
home to many species of colorful birds and are usually quite active.
The
camp site is in a beautiful glade fringed with cabbage palms beside
a picturesque rocky creek bed. Isolation is complete here &
this tour makes for the perfect weekend away to relax, enjoy &
rejuvenate without the prospect of a long journey home at the end
of it all.
We
visit the Mount Clara Copper Mine Chimney that was built in 1870.
This structure is about 50ft high and can see the incredible workmanship
that went into building this chimney. A relic of early mining in
this area and is a great attraction for those interested in old
mineral workings.
We
meet in Gympie on the Saturday morning treking high into the mountains
finishing the tour on Sunday afternoon in the quaint town of Widgee.
A 2
course meal is included on the Saturday evening.
This
is a tour close to Brisbane and should not be missed.
Cost:
$260 per vehicle (includes
2 persons).Additional persons are $50 pp. This
tour includes
all fees & permits. Minimum numbers apply.
