This is a four wheel drive weekend tour option which incorporates the Widgee Wilderness Mountain retreat. Close to Brisbane a weekend adventure with plenty of 4WD action.

The wilderness section of this tour is on private property that encompasses the high mountain ridges just inland from Gympie as well as Widgee Mountain itself, the highest peak in the district.

Views from the many vantage points on the property are simply spectacular & if we are lucky, we can witness the spectacle of hang gliders taking of from the launch pad on the mountain.
A swim in an idyllic mountain pool is a welcome diversion. It may even be possible to shower under an adjacent waterfall if summer rains have been kind.

This tour is particularly suited to families. Children can often get u close to observe wild deer & other animals. The mountains are also home to many species of colorful birds.

The camp site is in a beautiful glade fringed with cabbage palms beside a picturesque rocky creek bed. Isolation is complete here & this tour makes for the perfect weekend away to relax, enjoy & rejuvenate without the prospect of a long journey home at the end of it all. Included is Saturday night dinner at a country pub where some local hospitality can be found before returning to the camp fire.
