4WD Introductory Off-road Driving Course

Gain confidence as you learn the capabilities and limitations of your 4WD or AWD vehicle. We offer an introduction to off road driving to those who want to learn new skills or perhaps refresh old ones.
Our introductory 4WD course aimed at the recreational driver, is structured to practice you in reading the terrain as well as obstacle negotiation. This is a full day course.
These sessions are designed with little or no theory component, just common sense practical solutions to off road situations.

This is a full day course. Cost: $205 (includes two drivers per vehicle)

This course is purpose designed for all those that own an AWD vehicle and would like to know the capabilities of their vehicle and give you the practice and confidence to drive your vehicle safely.
These vehicles surprise most owners with what they can actually achieve.
This is a full day course

4x4 Recovery Course

For the more experienced off roader we offer instruction in advanced recovery.

These techniques, as used by the military have been proven by time to be the most effective and safest means of extracting a 4WD from many a tricky situation.

Course includes: Safety- Advice on equipment Ways to control or improve traction - How to improvise if short of gear - Winching methods including layouts & how to identify the total pull required.

4X4 Advanced Driving Weekend

Our training weekends are for those who are likely to find themselves off the beaten track or are planning extended travel.
This is a fun weekend away with the bonus of learning new skills.

Advanced driving techniques are a feature of this weekend.

Participants will be guided through various obstacles as they tackle a route designed to provide plenty of challenges. All the recovery techniques needed are covered & winching skills will be put to good use as progress is made from one scenario to another. Other subjects include; vehicle set up- trip preparation – tyre repairs & much more.
Course participants can relax around the fire, at our overnight camp stop. A BBQ dinner is provided.

This is a hands on course and vehicles should be fitted with or carry a winch .
Cost: $420 (includes two drivers per vehicle) Additional persons are welcome. Cost $50

Off road Towing Course

Off road campers are now very popular & allow you to enjoy more comfort during those camping trips as well as providing extra storage & the ability to distribute the load better.
Towing off road for the first time can be scary & some people who have experience still find it daunting when tackling difficult sections of track. An off road trailer course is recommended, particularly when first starting out.
Our trailer course will provide the skills required to safely maneuver the vehicle/trailer setup in difficult terrain, as well as help to equip you for extended touring.
Suitability: 4WD's with low range
Off road trailers with or without brakes
Prerequisite: Drivers should be competent in off road operation or have completed a 4WD course
The course is conducted in a controlled environment using small groups of three vehicles max.
Areas covered include:
Legal requirements, Load & weight distribution, Hitching & unhitching,Reversing & maneuvering,
Towing & maneuvering across uneven ground, Common obstacles, Operation on steep terrain
Trailer set up - brakes, tyres, suspension, & hitches, Braking technique on dirt roads, Trailer inspection

Cost $335 per vehicle (includes up to two drivers)
